Thesis

I tested my thesis last night! It was a little insane, because I forgot that just because I had a working program, that didn't mean that the lab was set up to run my thesis. So, I spent a bit of time installing speakers and other things so that I could actually run the test participant I had scheduled. But, it looks like everything worked very well, and I should have beautiful data from her! I'm very excited!

Apparently, the higher ups have cancelled the thesis presentations that were supposed to happen this week. Alan was displeased. But, there's not much I can do about it. At least I had sent him my pwrpt already, so that he could give comments. Now he knows I would have done well, even though we found out they were cancelled yesterday. *shrug* It's OK with me, one less stressful thing to worry about this week, although I have to say that I would have liked to have done it for the experience. Oh well. But now Alan gets to decide what I do get to do, and that'll be interesting. I'm not sure whether he'll want me to present for something else, or what's going to happen. That would be a little crazy.

Anyway, it looks like I should finish out the semester rather well, having run one participant, and hopefully getting to start analyzing her data to make sure the program is actually eliciting the results I want it to. Wish me luck!

I Love Scripps's Administration!

Reason to go to a small college #1: The president of your college cooks you pancakes
Reason #2: The dean of faculty serves you said pancakes
Reason #3: The dean of students welcomes you to breakfast
Reason #4: The director of human resources serves you eggs
Reason #5: The entire administration from your school is in the dining hall at 8:30 in the morning, wearing tall chef's hats with their names on them!

Dean Lamkin said that apparently they do this every two years or so. I'm so sad I missed it Sophomore year! It was absolutely amazing this morning. They were so funny! Someone made them a Tips cup, and Dean Lamkin was adament that it was too small. Then President Bekavac chastised Dean Lamkin for mauling her pancakes when handling them with the tongs. It was absolutely wonderful. And then there was a debate about which bowl size was appropriate for grapefruits. Only the small grapefruit-sized bowls would do. Oh it was wonderful. Yay for small colleges and awesome people running them. I adore our administration. :)

Whee!

OK, so, I know I haven't written in forever. Things have been really insane. There's been dancing, and not dancing, and classes, and projects, and realizing an application that I just found was due Dec. 1, so GREs, and registering for the other tests I need to take, and thesis, which I finally have a working program as of yesterday. But yeah, pretty much, insanity.

To make a long story short, the main story of this post is that I met this guy at LG named Jeff, whom Andrea introduced me to. Get this: he went to KentLake. Even better, his sister went to KR, and I knew her! She was a senior my sophomore year, but we were Chatelaines together, and she was awesome. I really enjoyed spending time with her. Well, so, Jeff and I talked for a while at LG, and then traded e-mails. We have since been e-mailing back and forth. And he's a stuntman/actor, and he's going to be on SciFi channel's Manticore, which is premiering Nov. 26th.

(Jeff is the one in the middle holding the lighted gun. This picture is from the trailor for the show.)

You should all watch. Mainly, I just think it's awesome that I know someone who's going to be on TV. But also that he's from home. Even if he did go to the rival high school. ;) Anyway, it's a very very small world.
