Don't tell Becca, but...

I'm pregnant, by my boyfriend and we're getting married in Las Vegas in a month.

He he. Sorry, I was just amused, because I kept being chastised for putting information on here that I didn't tell her first, so she or Adam would read this, and then talk to each other, and realize that I hadn't told them, and yeah. It was pretty funny. :) And, none of the above is remotely true.

My brain is still a little mushy today, after my midterms yesterday I felt like I had been reduced to the mental capacity of a five-year-old child. It was pretty bad. But, I made it through them. Now I just have to wait to get them back, and see how many I got wrong. I know I missed at least one on both of them. *sigh* Oh well.

Things are going well though. We watched a creepy movie in Greek Tragedy yesterday. It was called the Bad Seed... fifties movie, by the same director as the Wizard of Oz. Completely different movie. Quite creepy, and I don't think I'll ever be able to hear the theme song again without being slightly creeped out. I recommend it, it's a good movie, but don't watch it alone, and definitely not at night alone. Psychopathic eight year old little girls are soooo creepy!

But maybe not quite as creepy as my hooded maniacal robot that murders people in a hooded sweatshirt with a fork in the night. ;)

Yay! Anyway, fun things, must go try to write my bio report, and hopefully my mushy brain doesn't show through too much. If it does, it's only a rough draft, but, better to do it right the first time... have fun everyone!

Blah day!

So, today was bad. Bad bad bad. But, it'll be alright. Class was fine, got back from class, studied, went to lunch, came back, studied, got a phone call, I totally blanked and forgot I was supposed to give my first tour today! Stupid stupid. So, back to studying, then dance, then more studying, then dinner, then lab, now more studying. I managed to slice my foot open in dance, and I really feel like I don't know everything I should for my two midterms tomorrow, so, back to the studying, but, apparently the guy who is doing our DVDs tried to commit suicide. He's doing better now, Chris says, but he heard while he was back in Utah, that he apparently tried like two weeks ago. So, hopefully we'll still get our DVDs soon. We're just hoping before next concert. ;) And, we definitely won't use him again. Anyway, must go back to the studying... blah blah blah chem bio blah.

11?!

Chris is the eleventh of twelve children! Eleventh! That's insane! Remind me never ever ever to have that many kids!

On a different note, the funeral went wonderfully well apparently, he was really happy that it was a good experience, and although sad at times, was also fun because he got to see his whole family, which, when there's 11 of you, that would be a problem arranging schedules. Anyway, he's back, and we started latin medley this morning, which is awesome! I like the choreography so far, but I'm going to need to practice soooo much!!

Guess what?! Kitri and Kevin are engaged! It's so very very exciting! And, Kitri gave me mini latin technique lesson over IM, because there's absolutely no garantee that I'll make the medley. This was one lesson: In order to dance latin well, one must think: "I'm fabulous and sexy, and you should all fall at my feet" and at the same time, "my hips have no ligaments." I see a long road ahead of me... :)

So, I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said: "Guys are like pantyhose, when you need them most, they run." Kitri added: Guys are like pantyhose because you should always keep a spare pair around. At which I was highly amused. She's totally joking of course, but it's absolutely wonderfully funny! I've also had two boys comment on that particular item, and it's brought really funny conversations around. It's great. Guys are funny, I love them.

Anyway, back to work!

Time flies!

Dear goodness, another week has passed! Time is going so fast! And yet, chem lab yesterday seemed like it would never end. Perhaps it's because I had so many things to do afterwards, that I just wanted to get it over and done with, but still. It's going so fast! I don't want it to! Ahhh!!

Let's see, we had our ballroom social today, which was really fun. PC and I had to get stuff ready for that yesterday, so that was fun. Actually, it was kind of exciting because we showed up at the dollar store, and there were four police cars, a fire truck, and a paramedic van out front. And we weren't sure it was safe to go in, but we think someone had a heart attack in the back room, which is really really bad, but, at least we weren't in any danger. But yeah, so we got plates and juice, and random cookies and stuff. We decided that we would play a charades-ish game to make people get to know each other, which was fun! Although really hard. And we also played a random card game, which was also fun. It was great, we had so many more people there than last year! It was so fun! 34 instead of like 14. Sad. Anyway, that'll be our last social until the end of the semester. Which is kind of sad, but good because it's one less thing to think about now.

We went out to Lindygroove again, and Jon was there! It was crazy because Jon is amazing, and yet, the first time I danced with him, I was so confused because it felt like I was better than he was! It was so weird and upsetting! But he hadn't been out dancing in like three months, which, then is totally understandable, and yet still upsetting. Because it's Jon! But, by the end of the night he was getting it back, and was better than me again, even if it wasn't by much. But he also paid Emily and I a huge compliment, saying that we've gotten a lot better. I think we have, but I also think that was partly a product of him not having danced in so long. Anyway, it was great fun to see him again! He's doing well, working for an advertising agency. Very nice. And apparently Tanya formerly from Seattle, now of LA, is starting a new Lindy club, it's going to be Monday nights, which really kind of stinks, but I'd like to go just once to see what it's like. Because if it's like Seattle, it should be wonderful! I miss Seattle. *sigh* But, Lindygroove will supplement for now, at least, until I'm too tired to go anymore, which might be soon....

Research is going well, I've run four participants, I have two more to go for this experiment, and they've all gone well so far, which is awesome. Prof. Hartley told me that there's plenty of space if I want to get my own project on the EEG going, or just to do my thesis or whatever. Which is really really cool, and exactly what I wanted.

Team is going well, PC and I ran rehearsals this last week while Chris was out of town. Hopefully the funeral went well. He's supposed to be back on Monday, although we're not sure whether that's before or after rehearsals. Either way, we're having rehearsal again, and probably working on the lindy. It's been really fun to teach, but oh man, we have to do a lot of work on styling when we get our eight couples for the routine. Dan sent me some awesome videos! They're absolutely amazing! I don't know how they move that fluidly, but yes, amazing. I wish I could dance that well. And teach people to dance that well! But hopefully it will still look alright. I wish we still had our good lindy people.

Anyway, things are really really busy, so I should go do my work. I have two midterms this week. So, busy busy work! Have fun everyone!

Research!!

I get to do research with Prof. Hartley! It's so cool! I've been e-mailing around, because I know I need more experience. And he wants me! It's so exciting! And I'll be in on a new study which is dealing with the interference of doing two tasks at once. Very cool. And interesting, so that will be good. It's even going to be an ERP study, so I'll get to deal with a totally different kind of neuroimaging than I have this summer! Anyway, one more thing to do, but it should be a lot of fun. I really like Prof. Hartley, and the two other girls who are in the lab, so it should work out well. And having access to things like ERPs for my thesis will be wonderful! Sweet! Anyway, I must run off to my craziness that is the activities fair and stuff, but I'm excited and wanted to share! Have a great day everyone!!

Intelligent

Ahh, I have the most intelligent things come out of my mouth sometimes.

For example, when we were playing Trivial Pursuit at Adam's over the weekend, and I thought Curse You was the title of the magazine? Well, I've done it again. But only with Adam.

Monday at dinner, Adam was poking his sandwich toothpicks into his styrofoam cup parallel to each other, so I took one of mine and jabbed it through the other way. And he said: "Hey! You messed up my ouvre!" Except that what it sounded like to me, knowing absolutely no French, was: "Hey, you messed up my ooogh!" And I thought he had made up some random word for his cup creation. When he realized that I hadn't understood, he did start making random syllable noises and exclaimed, "that's French!" Which was really funny. It ended up being a great joke, but yeah....

The other really smart thing I did, was get up an hour before I actually wanted to, and then when I went to get back into bed, was so tired that I just kind of launched myself up onto it. But I missed the edge, so I smashed my right thigh into the metal lip of the bed frame. Then I lay on the floor for a few minutes going OW! So now I have a gorgous swollen bruise, which makes the second one on that thigh. It's so pretty! I look like I was beaten with a baseball bat! They're that big. Crazy!

Anyway, other than showing my most intelligent side, things are going well! :) Life is funny!

Bio and Chem and Tragedies, oh my!

So it looks like classes are going to be good this semester. Foundations of Neuroscience is sounding like it's going to be very cool, even though I should know quite a bit of the information, having taken higher level courses without having had it first. But, that's alright. Intro bio and chem are going to be way too much busy work, and a pain because I have labs Tuesday nights and Friday afternoons, which are the absolute worst lab times ever! However, I will live, and it looks like they'll be decently interesting too. Chem class should be lots of fun. Our prof. just got out of grad school, and is so excited and peppy, and lots of fun to learn from. In one class period, we had a mini Olympics, took iron filings out of Total, and listened to a fabulous song about the elements. It was great! Bio is probably going to be a little slow, which doesn't change the amount of work we have to do, just the boring level of the class. Which kind of stinks. But hopefully it will pick up. And Greek Tragedies looks to be a lot of fun, since we're reading a lot of stuff that I haven't done before, although that meant it was expensive because I had to buy eleven new books. But hey, I now own an entire collection of Greek Tragedies!
I've been really busy, dance started already, and Chris is working on the new Latin Medley that we will be taking to Ohio. The Ducey gym where we have latin is an absolute sauna, so we all sweat tons. But, it's shaping up to be a really good class with a good ratio, so it'll be fun. Standard it weirding me out because I am the only girl who has taken it before, therefore, I am the only one who knows the routines, and can focus on the technique, but I have no one better than me to watch, and it makes me really self conscious because I shouldn't be the best one in the class. There is no way that should be. It's crazy! But, we've reinstated our tradition of going to the Coop afterward, which is soooo much fun! Although it also means I'll be eating greasy fried food twice a week again, but hey, it's worth it for the company. :)
Ian came down Friday, which was really fun! It was great to see him again, and we had a good time going to the hypnotist show, and then watching When Harry Met Sally with Andrew and Co. That was a really fun movie! Hopefully next time I'll see the begining of it. The hypnotist show was hilarious! It was pretty similar to the ones at KR, although he didn't do the belly button thing. But he did do a human seat belt, which was great! Because she was so enthusiastic and emphatic about the fact that she had saved "like four" of these people's lives. And the poor girl who had no knowledge of the number six... that was amusing, but distressing when she sat there counting her fingers and not being able to figure out why there were eleven of them. It was very amusing overall. Saturday about 12:30, Ian decided that we all needed to do something fun, so we basically took the day off, and went over to PC's suite and joined PC and Justin in watching The Italian Job. Which was a really good movie. Then we took a walk down to Bert and Rockie's in the Village to get ice cream, which was funny because PC, Justin, Ike, and Adam all came with us, and none of them got anything. But hey, it was great to have them along! We went back to Adam's room after that, and Ian, Justin, and Adam taught me how to play bridge. When Justin left, Becca was coerced into taking his spot, and we played another hand before dinner. It's a fun game. I would like to play more, I'm just really not good at it. But, hopefully I'll get some practice! Justin has these awesome plastic cards! They never wear out, and they're absolutely a joy to shuffle! So fun! I liked these cards a lot. After dinner, we went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Frary, which is the dining hall on Pomona that has a strikingly similar feel to the great hall at Hogwarts. And we've talked last year about how similar they are, and finally they showed a movie in there! It was great! Except that their sound system was not so good, so every once in a while it would distort and you couldn't understand anything. But it was still awesome. We then went back to Adam's room and played Trivial Pursuit. Which was very fun! My team did very well, until we had all the pies, and then they kept choosing green for our last question. We finally got it though, and won. They didn't make much of a comeback. But there was this one question that we decided was about cigar magazines, and we needed to know the name of it. And when we gave our final answer, Adam said "curse you." And for whatever reason, I thought that he was saying that the name of the magazine was Curse You. I got made fun of for that one. But hey, I'm allowed my blonde moments every once in a while, right? :)
Oh, if you haven't read them, read Harry Potter in Fifteen Minutes, and Hidalgo in Fifteen minutes. Those are the two that I've read, she's written a bunch of other ones, but they're all for movies that I don't know. But they're absolutely hilarious! Apparently she's coming out with a book. But anyway, if you Google the name, it should come up as the first thing and you can go read it. Great! Especially if you've seen the movies! There are some absolutely hilariously witty lines that she has.
Anyway, back to the work... Have fun! For all of you with summer left. Good luck! For those in school. :)
